A CAT IS...

A cat is ...
Many things to many men,
More than just a ball of fluff,
Its mind is wise; its spirit's strong,
It is both delicate and tough.

A cat is ...
A sleuth, a spy, a private eye,
Trespasser and invader,
Snoopy and inquisitive,
An astute investigator.

A cat is ...
Proud and brave - cowed and afraid,
Loyal, fickle, hot and cold,
Alert and sleepy - bright and dull,
Naughty, haughty, bold.

A cat is ...
Dependently independent,
A royal ruler of the realm,
A president and C.E.O.,
And a captain at the helm.

A cat is ...
A thinker of the deepest thoughts,
With an inpenetrable mind,
A people pleaser, a problem easer,
A purr-ful sedative that's fine.

A cat is ...
A bafflement, a puzzlement.
A question mark with fur,
A perplexity, a paradox,
A Rubik's Cube that purrs.

April, 2008 Update - Well, I can't believe it's 2008 and I will be turning 20 years old this year in June. That's like around 100 years old in people years! I am really doing quite well. I sleep alot and eat a lot, and occasionally get the kitty crazies and like to go our side for a nip of grass now and then. We did have a sad fall last year. My not too favorite brother cat Buster passed away from kidney disease. I felt so sorry for him as he has been every sick for the last two years. But Mommie tried her best to take care of him. I do miss him even though we didn't get along too well. Simba and I have become a little friendlier since Buster passed away. He even licked my on top of my head the other day! Some nights I lay on the couch next to Mommie on one side and Simba lays down on the other side. My best spot to sleep is in my kittybed under the plant table looking out the sliding glass door. Then My next favorite spot to sleep is still on the fleece lined window shelf. At night I like to sleep right next to my Meowmie almost on her pillow. I am still pretty shy around strangers, but come out and eat catnip whenever Mom puts it out. I have generally been in good health, but have developed a slight tic in one of my feet, but I get along just fine even with the tic. All in all, life is good and I am pretty happy!

Febuary, 2007 Update - Well, I can't believe it's 2007 and I will be turning 19 years old this year in June. I am really doing very well. I sleep alot and eat a lot, and occasionally get the kitty crazies. My favorite spot to sleep is the fleece lined window shelf. I constantly have to battle Buster for that spot..who ever gets there first hogs the window seat for the day. My second favorite spot is on the couch behind Meowmie Aurora's computer, so I can be near her all day. At night I like to sleep right next to my Meowmie almost on her pillow. Buster used to sleep there, but I have taken over the spot. I am still pretty shy around strangers, but come out and eat catnip whenever Mom puts it out. I have generally been in good health, but have developed cataracs in my eyes. I guess I still see well enough to get around as I do go out in the summer to eat grass and take a walk with Mom and the other cats. My thyroid level was a little low so the Vet decreased my meds, and now my Mom thinks I am slightly overactive. I guess she'll have to take me back for another T3 test...another $100 down the drain. All in all, life is good and I am pretty happy!

June, 2004 Update - Another good year has gone by.  I am feeling Much better and have put on a little weight.  At least I am not  fat like the other kitties.  I go out a little now and then, but spend most of my time sleeping in the closet where it is nice and cool and quiet.  But I still have my "crazies now and then, like last night I was running and the house like crazy.  Buster and Simba could just stare at me in wonder!  Hehehehe!  Buster and Simba are still around and once in a while act like my buddies.  Meowmie Aurora is fine and home with us most of the time.  I like that.  Then I can beg for food all the time!  Well that is about all.  Have a happy time.

October, 2003 Update All is well, Buster, Simba and I are still together.  Simba practically lives outside.  Buster goes out in the morning and then sleeps on the computer table next to Meowmie.  As for me, I am eating constantly because of the Thyroid problem.  My new favorite spot to sleep is in the closet in the clothes basket (see above).  I spend all day there, except when I am eating.  Meowmie retired this year and is home with us all the time.  Yippee!  Another happy year has gone by!

Lady's Pet of the Day

    Hi, my name is Lady.

I was the first kitty that came to live with my Meowmie, (before Buster did). She saved me from an animal shelter and I will always love her for that. When I was real little, I used to love to snuggle up and put my nose in my Meowmie's ear, knead her hair and purr real loud. She liked my my purring, but not my nose! We had some other cats living with us in the past 13 years, but they got sick and went to kitty heaven.

I just joined a club for Shelter Kitties-
Here is my card:

I was kinda happy when Buster arrived, but that didn't last long. Buster thinks HE IS THE BOSS. I hate it when he comes along and kicks me off the spot I am sleeping on. But, don't worry... I get my revenge when it comes to feeding time. I always nudge Buster out of his dish and eat his food! My favorite spot is the Kit Kat shelf with the sheep skin lining. It is so soft and warm and nice to sleep there in the sun. I like to go outside too, but I hide in the bushes if anyone comes along. My Meowmie takes me for walks with her, Buster and Baby Simba. She laughs so hard when I try to run up a tree (I weight 15 pounds so it's not too easy to do.)

I don't like it either when people come to visit my Meowmie. I hide  under the bed till they leave. They are all so loud! I am kinda afraid  of thunder too, and stay under the bed till it stops. I guess I am a  real "scardy Cat"! My Meowmie takes good care of me and gives  me lots of good food to eat -- that is why I weigh so much. I love l  living with my Meowmie and hope we never move! (I just tolerate Buster!!!!) Oh by the way, I just accidentally got locked out of the  house last night by my Meowmie. Boy was I scared!! I have never been outside all night before!!! I sure was glad to see my Meowmie in the morning!!!!!! My favorite spot to sleep now is under the Bed!

October, 2001 Update - Well, I had a nice summer being outdoors all the time, cause mommie was home all summer. But, health wise it wasn't too great. Mommie notice I was losing a lot of weight and took me to the Vets. We were both very worried, but it just turned out that I have thyroid disease. It is very common in older cats - I have an overactive thryroid. Now I have to take a pill every day, which I don't mind too much. I put a half a pound back on so I am feeling better and looking lots better. But right in the middle of that I had a bad reaction to fleas and tick medicine, and broke out in a terrible rash and itching like crazy. I had to be on antibiotics for that for a month. Now that is under control too and I am feeling all better.
